What Drift does
Drift helps you choose a worthwhile next experience using your preferences, temporary context and permitted location. You can choose a city manually and use the core experience on-device. Live recommendations are optional.
Information Drift uses
- Location you permit, including approximate or precise location.
- Preferences and temporary context such as interests, walking, transport, energy and hunger or tiredness.
- Anonymous technical identifiers used to authorise and protect live requests.
- Recommendation feedback and saved data if you choose to provide or save it.
Drift does not need your name, contacts or advertising identifier for its core experience.
On-device and live modes
On-device mode keeps recommendation generation and stored preferences on your device, subject to Apple system services you explicitly use. Live mode is opt-in. When enabled, Drift sends the minimum request context needed to its backend so it can retrieve evidence, apply deterministic recommendation rules and request concise editorial wording from configured providers.
Service providers
Depending on your choices, Drift may use Supabase for anonymous sessions and Edge Functions; Google Gemini and Google Maps grounding for live discovery or editorial support; Apple MapKit and WeatherKit; and OpenStreetMap or other evidence providers. Provider privacy terms may also apply.
Location
Drift requests location only when the selected feature needs it. You can deny or revoke Location Services in iOS Settings, or select a city manually. Drift does not retain a raw location trail.
Retention and deletion
Most preferences, temporary context, saved recommendations and feedback are stored locally and can be removed with Delete All Drift Data. Live sessions and short-lived abuse-prevention records may remain briefly for security and operations. Shared aggregate rate-limit records are not a personal recommendation history.
Sharing and tracking
Drift does not sell personal information or use information for advertising tracking in the current product. This must be reconciled with the final SDKs and App Store privacy declarations before publication.
Security, children and changes
Drift uses platform-protected local storage and short-lived live sessions. Drift is not directed to children under the minimum age required by applicable law. We may update this policy when Drift changes and will publish a revised effective date.
